On Hunger Strike Day 13, Hardik Patel Gives Ultimatum: Talks In 24 Hours Or Will Stop Water Intake

As Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel entered the 13th day of his hunger strike on Thursday, his supporters warned that if the BJP government in Gujarat will not initiate talks with him in next 24 hours, he will stop drinking water. 

Hardik is on indefinite hunger strike demanding farm loan waiver and reservation for Patidar community under Other Backward Class (OBC) category in the education sector and government jobs,

Announcing the ultimatum to the BJP government, PAAS convener Manoj Panara said the government should talk to Patel as his health has been deteriorating.

Panara was quoted by NDTV as saying, “If the government does not start talks with Hardik in the next 24 hours, he will stop drinking water. The entire state and its people are worried about him and praying for him, but it seems the government is not at all concerned.”

Demanding government representatives need to come to the fast venue to hold talks with Patel he said, “The government falsely claimed that talks have started. This is an attempt to mislead people. What is the use of such talks when no one approaches Hardik to brief him what exactly transpired during the talks?"

On Wednesday, along with former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha met Patidar leader and added support.

Sinha said, "A humble appeal to both the state govt. & Central Govt. to take heed of the sensitive situation & help resolve this delicate & important matter soon, sooner the better..."

Patel is on hunger strike from August 25 and has lost 20 Kg weight, doctors have warned him as his health has been in trouble.
