On His Way To UP Investor Summit, BJP MLA Lokendra Singh Dies In A Car Accident

BJP MLA Lokendra Singh died in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district on Wednesday. Singh was on his way to Lucknow to attend the ‘investors summit’ which was to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

His Toyota Fortuner was reportedly at a high speed, which rammed into a truck coming from the opposite side of the highway. The impact of the accident was so intense that along with the death of his two security guards and driver, the truck driver also passed away.

Chauhan had in 2016 demanded police protection saying that his life was in danger. As per media reports from November 2016 Chauhan specifically mentioned that he feels his car is chased by people. Chauhan had written to the then Chief Minister and other senior officials in the Akhilesh Yadav led government.

PM Narendra Modi offered his condolences on the incident. He tweeted, “Anguished by the demise of BJP MLA from Noorpur, Shri Lokendra Singh Ji due to an accident. His service towards society and role in building the BJP in UP will always be remembered. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath too tweeted his condolences on the demise of the BJP legislator. Calling Lokendra Singh a committed leader, Adityanath said the party had lost a committed leader.

Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and a host of other leaders offered their condolences.

Lokendra Singh was an MLA from the Noorpur (Bijnore) constituency.
