Meet The New Faces In Modi Cabinet: Pradhan, Goyal, Sitharaman And Naqvi

As the third Cabinet reshuffle concluded on Sunday, the new cabinet sees 4 new Ministers in the list. According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah cherry picked each and every minister in the new cabinet.

The four ministers that saw a promotion to the cabinet on Sunday were Dharmendra Pradhan, Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while another 9 new faces were added among the Minister of states.

Dharmendra Pradhan got Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, Vijay Goyal - Railways Minister, Sitharaman - Defence and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi - Minister of Minority Affairs.

It was only their charm and hard work that impressed the Prime Minister and BJP national president to see them fit for a cabinet position in a critical situation when the Bharatiya Janata Party is gearing up for a sweep in 2019 General Election.

Let's take a look at all of these new Cabinet Ministers in the new Cabinet:

Dharmendra Pradhan:

Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the new Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, however, he he also given the additional charge of Skill Development Ministry since he had hailed the government's cornerstone projects - PAHAL and Ujjwaka.

While both the schemes were largely beneficial for the poor, PAHAL even found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest cash transfer programme.

Earlier, he was the Minister of States in the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry. He has also served as the in-charge of Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party and all India General Secratary of the party.

Piyush Goyal:

Piyush Goyal is one of the most known personalities among the newcomers of this cabinet. He has been appointed as the Railway Minister to replace Suresh Prabhu.

While he has been largely credited for his innovation and effectiveness in the Power and Coal Ministry, he also has a huge social media presence, which is a plus point under the Modi government.

As many as 13,685 villages have been electrified under his incumbency till June 20, 2017, that gave him an edge over other contenders.

Nirmala Sitharaman:

Nirmala Sitharaman emerged as the biggest gainer of the cabinet reshuffle on Sunday as Prime Minister Modi gave her the heavyweight Defence portfolio taken from Arun Jaitley.

She won the confidence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah handling the commerce ministry.

Earlier, she had served as the spokesperson of BJP after which she was promoted to become the Minister of States for Ministry of Commerce and Industry in May 2014.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi:

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is Modi government's most prominent Muslim figure, however it wasn't his caste that got him appointed as the Minister of Minority Affairs in the cabinet.

He has performed a marvellous job as the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs that the high command of BJP saw him fit for the cabinet.

Earlier, he served as an eloquent to the speaker for the party and thwarted the opposition.
