Nation Pays Tribute To Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, The Iron Man Of India

A country of numerous cultures and traditions, India is unified as one nation, the credit of which largely goes to Vallabhbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, popularly known as Sardar Patel, the 'Iron Man' of India.

An Indian barrister and statesman, Sardar Patel was a leader of the Congress and a founding father of the Republic of India. After playing a significant role in the struggle for the country's independence from the British, Sardar Patel used diplomacy and tact to unite the more than 550 princely states of India under one Republic.

The first Home Minister of India, as well as the first Deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Patel died on 15 December 1950, only 3 years after India's independence, at the age of 75. However, his legacy lives on, and the unique culture of each of the different areas of India continues to come together as one nation, which is now on the verge of becoming a global superpower. His birth anniversary of October 31, since 2014 was designated as National Day of Unity in his honour.
