Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, born on January 23, 1897, was one of the greatest freedom fighters of India, and a leader of the younger and more radical wing of the Indian National Congress in the late 1920s and 1930s, rising to the position of Congress President in 1938 and 1939.

The charismatic Netaji Bose revamped the Indian National Army and sought international support to end the British rule of India. Bose ventured to Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan as well in his quest for support to the Indian cause. His unwavering nationalism and dedication to the freedom struggle have made him a household name, and his famous slogans are remembered decades later.

The death of Netaji Bose was shrouded in mystery, while reports stated that he died in a plane crash in Taiwan, others believed that Bose did not die at the time, but that the plane crash story was an elaborate cover-up.
