The massive fire that broke out in the abandoned building of Patel Chambers is now under control. 2 firefighters faced minor injuries while everyone else is reported safe. The fire came in control at around 7:30 AM.

Fire officer Prabhat Rahangdale while addressing the media said “Two firemen received minor injuries, rest everyone is safe. The building was abandoned for around 4 years. As the stairs inside had collapsed, we had no way to go inside. There were chances that the fire could have spread as this is a very congested area.”

“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and the investigation is still on. The firefighters got injured when a part of the building collapsed as they were putting out the fire. 16 fire engines, 11 tankers and around 150 fire officers were deployed to douse off the flames.”Prabhat added.

This is the second major incident of fire that occurred in the metro city of Mumbai. A few days earlier a massive fire broke out in the upper floor Scindia House of the Ballard Estate in Fort area of the city. Around five people were trapped inside the building. It took the fire department a few hours to bring down the flames and rescue the ones who were trapped.
