Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to address a rally in West Bengal’s Maynaguri on Friday.

PM Modi flayed the Congress-led opposition parties for not supporting the triple talaq bill. "The Congress has revealed its real face on the triple talaq issue yesterday. They are at all concerned about our Muslim women. Congress supports atrocities on Muslim women. But, why is Mamata also not supporting the Triple Talaq bill? Why is she against Muslim women," he said.

He lashed out at  CPI(M), Congress and TMC saying that they do not bother about people's problems in Jalpaiguri.  He said Mamata Banerjee Government ruined the state. She destroyed tea, timber and tourism businesses of Jalpaiguri.

He said, “North Bengal is known for three Ts – tea, timber and tourism. All three were neglected by all the previous state governments. The law and order situation here has worsened over the years. Industries were not developed, youth are migrating, and projects of schemes are stalled, but all this doesn’t bother the state government. It is evident that Congress and Trinamool do not care about the people.”

Reminding everyone how the Congress is planning to whitewash the NDA government’s efforts, the prime minister added, “Congress has forgotten how much the Muslim daughters and sisters have suffered due to Triple Talaq. Congress not only stopped the bill in Parliament but now they are talking about abolishing Triple Talaq completely.”

Mocking the Opposition’s grand alliance plans, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Every corrupt person today has a problem with me. We are trying to eradicate poverty, help the poor and save our armed forces from corrupt schemes, and here is the mahamilavat (highly adulterated alliance) who is trying to do the opposite.”

He talked about the tea connection between him and Jalpaiguri said while people of Jalpaiguri produce tea, he used to sell tea.

He further said that the people of Jalpaiguri will get justice in Jalpaiguri itself. They won't have to go to Kolkata to get to the High Court.

PM  Modi while addressing the rally, said all people across the country, including the poor, deserve pucca houses. He added that the government will make sure that all people get pucca houses by 2022.

He added workers employed in tea plantation fields will now be entitled to a pension due to a scheme announced in the recent budget. This is going to benefit around 40-42 crore workers working in the unorganized sector. They will get a pension after attaining the age of 60.

Prime minister laid the foundation stone for the four laning of the Falakata-Salsalabari section of National Highway-31 D in Jalpaiguri. This 41.7 km-long section of National Highway falls in the Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal and will be constructed at a cost of about Rs 1938 crore.
