Self-proclaimed Godman, Bhaiyyuji Maharaj shot himself dead at his residence in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. Soon after the gunshot, he was rushed to Bombay Hospital where the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

While the reason behind taking such extreme step is not clear, his loyal followers have gathered outside the hospital premises to catch one last glimpse of their leader. What's shocking is that the last tweet posted from his Twitter handle was published an hour after his demise.

Bhaiyyuji Maharaj was among the five saints who were accorded Minister of State status by the Madhya Pradesh government in April. However, the spiritual leader refused to accept car and other facilities while stating, "A post holds no importance for a saint."

During the investigation, Police has found a suicide note from the saint's house which stated he was "stressed out" and "fed up" with his life. He further expressed that somebody should be there to take care of his family.

He further added, "All he has ought to think of is service to the people. When a post or status does not touch your mind, intellect or conscience, why think about it." Originally named Udaysinh Deshmukh, the neatly dressed spiritual leader used to run a sprawling ashram at Indore.

The former model was known for his lifestyle. He enjoyed a massive following among politicians and businessmen, particularly in Maharashtra. The self-styled Godman was often compared spiritual entrepreneurs like Baba Ramdev for all his high-profile connections.

Bhaiyyuji Maharaj came into limelight when the UPA government had sought his help in pacifying Anna Hazare for ending his protest against corruption in 2011. He later made headlines for his second marriage with Dr Ayushi Sharma on April 30, 2017.
