Misa Bharti And Her Husband Relieved, Conditional Bail Granted By CBI Court

A special Delhi court granted bail to Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar on Monday in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The case is related to the purchase of a farmhouse in Delhi by Misa Bharti and her husband on behalf of their company, Ms Mishail Packers and Printers Pvt Ltd, which used Rs 1.2 crore involved in money laundering in the year 2008-09.

Misa, when questioned, gave brief replies and told the agency that the day-to-day business activities of the firm were "looked after by her husband Shailesh Kumar and the financial records of this company were maintained by the CA of the company, late Sandeep Sharma."

However, Shailesh Kumar when interrogated said in his statement that he, as one of the directors of the firm, "supervised the day-to-day functioning of the company, guiding his manager and other employees."

And further added that financial matters of the company were handled by the CA and his company was "investing in purchasing agricultural land in anticipation of the proposed new master plan of Delhi."

Following their statements the ED, in the charge sheet, said "They have failed to provide the source of unaccounted money for making the investment in their company,"

It said the couple, as well as their company ", have committed an offence of money laundering." Bail has been given to both the accused on the condition that they cannot leave the country without prior permission from the court.
