Mini-Bus Falls Into Kolhapur River Killing 13 And Injuring 3

A mini-bus carrying 17 passengers were reportedly met with an accident and fell into Punchganga River at Kolhapur in western Maharashtra. As per the police reports, 13 people were killed and 3 others were injured in the accident that has occurred on Friday night around 11.45pm.

A police official from Kolhapur police told the mishap have happened on Shivaji bridge after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus was travelling from Ganpatipul to Pune.

Locals were informed police officials and the fire brigade about the casualty, after which the search and rescue operation was launched at the site.

The official said that out of the seven persons rescued from the river four were declared brought dead at a local hospital while three injured are undergoing treatment. The search for the other passengers was undertaken by the police, civic authorities and locals. The rescue operation went on for four hours.

All the passengers were from the same family and were on a temple tour in Maharashtra, according to the police reports.
