Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, who was earlier known solely for his comments and speeches offline, has of late become affluent on social media, with several of his witty quips going viral, leading to questions on who is behind the tweets.

In a video shared on Rahul Gandhi's official Twitter handle, the Congress scion introduces 'Pidi' an adorable black and white puppy who knows how to sit still to say 'namaste' and how to balance a treat on his nose.

Along with the video, Rahul tweeted: "People (have) been asking who tweets for this guy... I'm coming's me..Pidi..I'm way cooler than him. Look what I can do with a tweet..oops..treat!"

In the past, Rahul Gandhi's speeches at rallies and during roadshows and campaigns have focussed on heartfelt appeals, emotional connections and bold slamming of the ruling NDA government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular.

In comparison, Rahul's tweets are dripping with satire and clever connections and have gone viral. Remarking on the Goods and Services Tax, Rahul called it the 'Gabbar Singh Tax' with a reference to superhit film Sholay. Sharing a prediction of the growth of the economy, Rahul tweeted 'May the Farce Be With You', connecting it with the famous Star Wars TV series.

In Hindi as well, turning weather forecaster, Rahul tweeted a prediction of 'Jumlon ki baarish' or rain of promises ahead of the Gujarat elections and taunted 'Dr Jaitley' (Finance Minister Arun Jaitley) that the economy is in the ICU and his medicine is not working.

The rapid popularity of Rahul Gandhi on social media led many to question if bots were behind his social media success.

Meanwhile, the Congress and Rahul Gandhi expanded their social media team some months back, which likely has a connection with their social media team.
