A massive fire broke out in a footwear factory, engulfing another in outer Delhi's Udyog Nagar on Sunday morning, even as another massive fire broke out in central Kolkata's Canning Street in its Bagri Market area. No deaths or injuries were reported from either of the fires.

In Udyog Nagar in Delhi, the blaze was reported from the second floor of one of the shoe factories, which quickly spread to the other building, however, the cause of the fire is not known. A total of 30 fire engines rushed to the spot to fight the blaze.

Atul Garg, chief fire officer (Delhi Fire Services) said, "No casualty has been reported. Combustible raw materials in the factory caused the fire to spread rapidly."

In Central Kolkata's Bagri Market area, the fire sprung out during the night on the congested Canning Street area, starting at the ground floor of a 5-storied building which housed several medicine shops, jewellry and cosmetics trading outlets. The fire spread rapidly due to a large amount of inflammable articles.

Mayor Sovan Chatterjee visited the area early in the morning and oversaw firefighting efforts and said, "the fire broke out at 2.45 am. We are trying our best but firefighting operation is tough here because of the number of buildings."

A fire broke out on Saturday at a six-storey hotel Pamposh in Srinagar. The top floor of the building was completely gutted but the fire was controlled by the rescue teams.

Around 20 fire tenders, fire rescue teams, disaster management and emergency services have reached the spot for the rescue operation.

Eight people have sustained minor injuries with no casualties done. It is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire, police said.
