Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the 53rd episode of his monthly radio-broadcast Mann Ki Baat on Sunday.

It was PM Modi’s second broadcast of Mann Ki Baat in this year.

PM Modi paid tribute to the brave martyrs of Pulwama attack and dedicated a National War Memorial to the brave hearts who sacrificed their life after the independence.

My dear countrymen, Namaskar. I begin ‘Mann Ki Baat’ today with a heavy heart. 10 days ago, Mother India had to bear the loss of many of her valiant sons.

Remembering the brave martyrs PM said, "As a consequence of the Pulwama terror attack and sacrifice of brave jawans, people across the country are agonized and enraged. All around, there is a deluge of strong feelings of sympathy for the martyrs & their family members."

"We shall have to take up this challenge facing our country, forgetting all barriers of casteism, communalism, regionalism and other difference, so that, our steps against terror are firmer, stronger and more decisive," he added.

The entire nation today mourns for the 40 CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama. The country is united in anger and grief, we feel for the family of CRPF jawans.

PM Modi said, “Our armed forces have always shown unparalleled courage. On one hand, they have displayed impeccable capabilities in restoring peace; on other, they have retaliated befittingly in the language terrorists understand."

“I was surprised that we didn’t have a memorial to honour the soldiers who lay down their lives for the sake of the nation. This is why National War Memorial will be inaugurated near India Gate on February 25, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He further said, "My dear countrymen, long wait after Independence for a War Memorial is about to be over. It is natural for our countrymen to be curious about it."

"We decided to erect the National War Memorial and I am contented to see it attaining completion in so little a time," he added.
