Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will hold the 'United India' anti-BJP rally at Brigade Parade grounds to showcase a united face of the Opposition ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections 2019 on Saturday.

Top political leaders from 'Kashmir to Kanyakumari', in Mamata Banerjee's words, will come to West Bengal's capital Kolkata to attend the rally.

While addressing the crowd, Patidar leader Hardik Patel said, "This meeting is to save the Constitution of India. Together we can save this country."

Taking to Twitter on Saturday morning, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo said, “Only a few hours to go for the historic ‘United India Rally’ at Brigade Parade Grounds. I welcome all national leaders, supporters and lakhs of people to participate in today’s rally to pledge to build a stronger, progressive and united India.”

According to media reports, more than 20 national leaders, including three present chief ministers Arvind Kejriwal, Chandrababu Naidu, and H D Kumaraswamy and former chief ministers Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav, and Gegong Apang will attend the meeting.

Although the Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi decided to skip the event,  Mallikarjun Kharge and Abhishek Manu Singhvi will represent Congress on their behalf.

The "United India Rally" is seen by many as an attempt to portray Banerjee as a leader who can rally secular forces against the BJP and emerge as a potential challenger to PM Modi. The Trinamool Congress has taken pains to project her as the next Prime Minister of the country.

Five massive stages have been set up at the venue with the main stage, opposite the Victoria Memorial Hall, will accommodate senior leaders including Mamata Banerjee.

On the right of the main stage, there will be two stages, one for the MPs and State Government ministers and the other for the district presidents and functionaries.
