Jailed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tej Pratap Yadav who was formerly the health minister in Bihar, until Chief Minister Nitish Kumar switched alliances to side with the BJP, vacated his official bungalow last week, claiming the presence of ghosts. Tej Pratap further alleged that the ghosts had been released by Nitish Kumar and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi.

"I decided to vacate the bungalow because Nitish and deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi had released ghosts in it. The ghosts were haunting me,” Tej said to media.

The bungalow at 3 Deshratna Marg was allotted to Tej after the 2015 Bihar elections when under the 'Grand Alliance' government of RJD, JD(U) and Congress, he became the health minister. Last year in July, Nitish Kumar separated from the RJD and the Congress and formed government with the BJP.

In August 2017, former RJD and Congress ministers were asked by the state building construction department (BCD) to vacate their official bungalows. Former RJD ministers moved the Patna High Court in October 2017 against the government order asking them to move out from their official bungalows. The Patna HC stayed the government's order to the former ministers, after which the occupants were asked to pay rent for the bungalows at market rates.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's JD(U) dismissed Tej's statements as a publicity gimmick.

"Tej Pratap Yadav suffers from acute attention deficiency and is trying to compete with his younger brother Tejaswi who is hogging the limelight in the media," the JD(U) said to NDTV.
