Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir secured a major victory on Tuesday early morning when Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander Abu Dujana was killed in an encounter in Pulwama district of South Kashmir. Pakistani national Dujana was the most wanted militant commander in Jammu and Kashmir and was nabbed after specific intelligence identified his presence in the area.
Here's what you need to know about Abu Dujana:
-A resident of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan, Dujana joined Lashkar-e-Toiba at the age of 17
-Due to his planning and style of execution, he was appointed as deputy to Abu Qasim
- After the death of Qasim, Dujana became the obvious choice to lead LeT in Kashmir and became the LeT commander
- Operating out of Pulwama, the main target of Dujana was the Indian Army
- All of Dujana's attacks were aimed against the armed forces in Kashmir as he believed they were in the way of the 'Kashmir struggle'
-Mastermind behind the Udhampur attack which killed 2 BSF personnel, he was identified as such when militant Mohammad Naved was caught alive and confirmed to the police who was behind the attack
-Dujana was wanted in over 3 dozen attacks on security forces and civilians
- His name featured in several attacks which also include the ones at Pampore and Udhampur.
-Dujana carried a reward of Rs 15 lakh on his head
