The 'Hum Fit Toh India Fit' fitness challenge launched by Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on May 22 witnessed famous personalities taking part with full enthusiasm. However, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday rejected the challenge, saying that 'development fitness' of Karnataka was more important.

"Dear Narendra Modiji I am honoured and thank you very much for the concern about my health. I believe physical fitness is important for all and support the cause. Yoga-treadmill are part of my daily workout regime. Yet, I am more concerned about development fitness of my state and seek your support for it," tweeted Kumaraswamy from the official CM of Karnataka handle.

PM Modi had on May 24 accepted the fitness challenge from Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli who had in turn been challenged by Sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. While accepting the challenge, PM Modi had said that he would be uploading his fitness video later on, which he did on Wednesday.

"Here are moments from my morning exercises. Apart from Yoga, I walk on a track inspired by the Panchtatvas or 5 elements of nature - Prithvi, Jal, Agni, Vayu, Aakash. This is extremely refreshing and rejuvenating. I also practice breathing exercises. #HumFitTohIndiaFit," tweeted PM Modi, along with a video of his fitness routine.

"I am delighted to nominate the following for the #FitnessChallenge: Karnataka’s CM Shri @hd_kumaraswamy. India’s pride and among the highest medal winners for India in the 2018 CWG, @manikabatra_TT. The entire fraternity of brave IPS officers, especially those above 40," PM Modi further extended the challenge.

"I appeal to every Indian to devote some part of the day towards fitness. Practice any set of exercises you are comfortable with and you will see the positive difference it will make in your life! #FitnessChallenge #HumFitTohIndiaFit," PM Modi said.
