Kamal Nath Appointed MP Congress Chief, Jyotiraditya Scindia To Head Campaign Committee

The Congress party on Thursday appointed former Union Minister and nine terms Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Kamal Nath as the President of its Madhya Pradesh unit.

The party also appointed its youth face Jyotiraditya Scindia as the Chairman of the campaign committee. The state goes to polls in few months along with neighboring Chattisgarh.

The Congress party has been out of power in the state for the last 15 years and is working hard to wrestle back. The party has also appointed four working Presidents in the state.

Bala Bachchan: Bachchan was a minister in the Digvijaya Singh government; he is a four-term MLA from Rajpur (Barwani) constituency and is the deputy leader of opposition in the assembly.

Ramnivas Rawat: Rawat too was a minister in the Congress government and is a senior leader in the state. He is considered to be a close associate of Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Jitu Patwari: Two-term MLA and former state Youth Congress President Jitu Patwari too has been appointed as the working president. He represents the Rau constituency. He was recently sent to jail over a decade-year-old case and was released recently. He was recently appointed AICC Secretary.

Surender Chaudhary: A prominent Dalit face of the party, Chaudhary was a minister in the Congress Government and represented the Naryawali constituency. He heads the SC department of the party.

The party has also changed its Goa leadership appointing former NSUI in-charge Girish Chodankar as the President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee. Chodankar is considered to be very close to Congress President. He succeeds senior leader Shantaram Naik.
