Kamal Haasan Launches MAIAM Whistle App

Makkal Needhi Maiam on Monday launched its mobile app for whistleblowers in Madurai. Led by veteran actor turned politician the party launched ‘Maiam Whistle’ app which will help people to post anonymously any incident of corruption by leaders and officials.

MAIAM’s app launch comes just a few days after veteran actor Rajnikanth launched his ‘Rajini Makkal Mandram’ app.

To use the app, users will have to first register with their mobile number an email address and then input the One Time Password sent to the registered mobile number. People can register as citizens and champions.

The app is available on iOS as well as on Android. The description of the app in the app store reads, “Whistle is an app of the people, by the people. The objective of the app is to empower the citizens of Tamil Nadu to ask questions and demand justice. Citizens can now report issues plaguing their locality and ensure that action is taken by the departments to resolve them.”

A video message posted on Twitter with Kamal Haasan’s voice posted by the party that portrays multiple social ills says, “Thousands of issues, atrocities, and injustice continue to happen all around us. Do you know what’s the fundamental reason behind all this? It is us who show the indifference as a silent spectator towards these problems.”
