Suspended BRD Medical College paediatrician Dr. Kafeel Khan Sunday accused Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) MP Kamlesh Paswan of having a  role in the attack on his brother, Kashif Jameel. Kashif was attacked on June 10.

While addressing a press conference on Sunday, Khan alleged that Paswan and Satish Nangalia had hired shooters to attack his brother Kashif.

He said, “Paswan has no personal enmity with my brother. My uncle has a piece of land which Kamlesh and Satish encroached upon in February. FIR was lodged and they had sought stay order from the High Court on arrests.”

Khan also said that no action has been taken by the Uttar Pradesh Police despite promising to catch the culprits within 48 hours.

He said that it was apparent that the Uttar Prades police were acting on someone’s directions and their intention was clear.

He demanded either a CBI investigation or an investigation by a High Court judge should take place in this case. He also says that he does not want this case to be investigated by UP Police.

Kafeel Khan’s brother, Kashif was shot by two unidentified bike-borne men in Durgabadi area of Gorakhpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh earlier in June this year.

Dr. Kafeel Khan was the nodal officer of the Baba Raghav Das (BRD) medical college in Gorakhpur and was among the nine accused in the case, involving the death of 63 children, including infants in four days due to the disruption in the oxygen supply. The grievous infant deaths occurred in the month of April last year.
