JNU Student leader Umar Khalid has alleged that he received a death threat from underworld don Ravi Pujari. He has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police regarding the same and demanded police protection. As per Khalid, the same person had issued death threats for him in February of 2016 when Khalid along with the then JNU Students’ Union President Kanhaiya Kumar was caught in the case pertaining to anti-national slogans in the Jawahar Lal Nehru University campus. The Delhi Police had charged Khalid along with Kanhaiya Kumar and Anirban Bhattacharya for sedition.

In 2016, Umar Khalid’s father Syed Qasim Illyas Rasool had filed a police complaint claiming he got phone calls ‘threatening to kill Umar Khalid” if he did not leave the country.

Khalid’s complaint comes days after Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mewani claimed that he had been repeatedly getting death threats from gangster Ravi Pujari. As per Mewani, Pujari has been calling him from Australia. Mewani claimed that Umar Khalid too was on the Hitlist of Pujari.

AltNews founder Pratik Sinha has claimed that he too received a death threat from Ravi Pujari in March 2017 who threatened him to stop writing or else be eliminated.
