Top Jaish-e-Mohammad Terrorist Khalid Killed In Encounter With J&K Security Forces

In another development in the central government's anti-terrorism measures, a joint team of security forces killed a top Khalid Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist named Khalid in North Kashmir's Ladoora area on Monday.

The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police S P Vaid said that it was a major breakthrough for the security forces as the terrorist was involved in many attacks on security camps in North Kashmir as well as targeting policemen in particular.

Vaid said, "He was killed in a joint operation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operation Group, local police, the CRPF and the Army."

A Pakistani national, Khalid had been operating in the area for last two-three years and was carrying out tasks like recruiting for their terror outfit etc. He was also the one who carried out an attack on Special Police Officer and his seven-year-old son at Handwara.

The police said that Khalid was an A++ category top-ranking terrorist and carried a cash reward of nearly Rs 7 lakh.

The security forces had surrounded Ladoora village on Monday after receiving information of his likely presence in the region. However, the battle only began when the officers were fired upon as they approached the house where the militant was hiding.

An officer even said that the Pakistani militant killed in the fight was the operational chief of the JeM.

According to reports, the police is also investigating into his role in the recent attack carried out by the Jaish-e-Mohammed on BSF battalion headquarters near high-security Srinagar airport as well as on Pulwama's District Police Lines.
