A total of 4 CRPF jawans were martyred and another 3 injured after 3 terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) training centre in Lethpora area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday early morning. All 3 terrorists were killed in the ensuing encounter.

According to reports, the terrorists first hurled grenades into the training centre of the 185 Battalion of the CRPF and then opened fire resulting in an encounter.

The CRPF in a statement said there was a possibility of a similar attack on other camps as well.

“Fidayeen managed to enter Lethpora camp at 0210 hours. As per report two of our men got injured during initial intrusion from J&K Police Commando training area side. There is quite a possibility of a similar type of attack on other camps also,” says CRPF.

The hands of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Hizbul Mujahideen militant groups are suspected of being behind the attack, although there has been no confirmation.

The attack comes days after top Jaish-e-Mohammed commander Noor Mohammad was killed in an encounter on December 26 in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

Known as 'Chhota Noora' the 47-year-old, 4-foot tall militant reportedly played an important role in most of the major attacks taking place in the Kashmir Valley since he took control of the terror group in 2016.
