Congress MLA Anand Singh was hospitalized after he was allegedly hit on the head with a bottle by JN Ganesh at Bengaluru's Eagleton resort on Sunday, the local media reported.

As per media reports, Anand Singh and Ganesh started arguing over this. JN Ganesh accused Anand Singh of betraying his trust. "At this point, it was only verbal arguments.

By Sunday morning, Anand Singh and JN Ganesh's fight got out of hand and Ganesh hit Anand with a liquor bottle," the Congress source said.

Anand Singh was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Sheshadripuram, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Sources with Congress said that Anand Singh was brought in around 7.05 am on Sunday and was admitted to the in-patient block. He is currently recuperating.

Party legislator DK Suresh, who was also at the hospital said, “I don't know about the fight, Anand Singh is admitted in hospital due to chest pain. There are no injuries or anything. His parents are here at the hospital. Other issues are just speculations.”

Earlier Senior leader DK Shivakumar brushed away the reports of the fight too. "There is no fight. You saw all of them coming together, going together. It is fake news. Entire Congress party is united. I'm confident that even those who couldn't attend CLP will come to Congress," he said.

According to media reports, speaking on the matter, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said he does not have any information of Anand Singh being hospitalized. "Anand Singh is in hospital according to media. I don't have info. If he has gone I'll get details," he said.

"I tried to talk to DK Shivakumar to ask what happened. I couldn't get him," he added.

On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a jibe at the party after the incident commenting that "all is not well" within the Congress party and it was unfortunate that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao could not stop the incident.

On Friday, the Congress took 76 of its 80 MLA's to the resort amid fears of poaching by the BJP. Tension had been instigating since last weekend when the party accused the BJP of launching "Operation Lotus' - a term coined in 2008 when the party allegedly engineered defections of opposition legislators to ensure that its government headed by Yeddyurappa remains stable.
