IPL 2018 Matches In Chennai Will Be Held As Per The Schedule: Rajeev Shukla

The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on April 10 will be held as per the schedule.

"IPL 2018 matches in Chennai will be held as per the schedule. Adequate security measures have been taken. IPL should not be dragged into political controversies." said Rajeev Shukla, IPL Chairman.

Reacting to the Supreme Court's judgement on the Cauvery Water River sharing, protests have been going on in the state of Tamil Nadu, with certain organisations calling for a ban on IPL matches scheduled to be played in Chennai.

T Velmurugan of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi submitted a request to the Chennai Police Commissioner asking him to ensure the IPL match does not take place on April 10 until Cauvery Mangement Board is formed. He also threatened a protest inside the stadium if the matches were held.

Even Superstar Rajinikanth made his views public on the issue. He said, “If the matches are not stopped, the CSK team should wear black bands. The BCCI and the proprietors of CSK must allow the players to do so.”

The M.A. Chidambaram stadium is supposed to host a total of seven matches.
