A special CBI court on Monday sentenced Sheena Bora-murder accused Indrani Mukherjea to two days of CBI remand for further questioning in connection with the INX Media money laundering case. The CBI court specified that Indrani was to be brought back by February 7.

The probe agency had appealed to the court that the questioning of Indrani had to take place along with the others accused in the money laundering case and therefore sought her remand.

A warrant was issued against Indrani in relation to a money laundering case, in which the Enforcement Directorate claimed that Indrani allegedly took £ 90 million (773 crores) from INX Media out of the country via the hawala channels. The ED then filed a case against INX Media, its founders Peter Mukerjea, and his wife Indrani, and others under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA).

As per reports, P.Chidambaram's son, Karti Chidambaram, was involved in the case, which is related to the violation of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) guidelines while receiving investments from Mauritius.

The Mukerjeas are facing trial in Mumbai for allegedly conspiring to kill Sheena Bora, daughter of Indrani from a previous report, of April 2012.
