A special court on Tuesday extended Karti Chidambaram’s judicial custody by three days. The CBI sought nine days extension of his custody to interrogate him over the INX Media case.

Before the special court pronounced the ruling, CBI complained that Karti has not been cooperating for the past five days.

"After seizing of mobile, the accused said, I will not give my password, you go to hell, this is also called non-cooperation," Tushar Mehta, Counsel Additional Solicitor General (ASG) said.

"Indrani Mukerjea's statement is one of the evidence for us, but it's not the sole one." He added.

Karti's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that the investigative agency "gave no reasons but kept repeating orally that we have to interrogate."

"Argued that CBI hasn't given a single ground or written a single reason in its application for further remand. Karti Chidambaram only had a 25-minute-long confrontation with Indrani Mukerjea and around two hours long interrogation in the last five days and there is no need for further custody," Singhvi said.
