On the last day of Parliament's Budget Session on Wednesday Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that he would want Narendra Modi to get another term as Prime Minister.

His exact words were: "Meri kaamna hai ki pradhaanmantri ji aap phirse pradhaanmantri banein. Mera anubhav hai ki main jab bhi aap se mila, aapne turant mera kaam kiya [I wish that PM Modi, you should become the prime minister again. I have experienced that whenever I met you, you got my work done instantly.]"

Mulayam Singh Yadav’s statement welcomed an instant thumping of desks from the treasury benches. Mulayam complimented his remark with a namaskar to which PM Modi promptly acknowledged with a smile.

Mulayam, who was seated beside former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, added that he hopes to see the same set of MPs in the next session of Parliament.

Mulayam Singh Yadav's remark also comes at a time when the whole of the Opposition has assembled in New Delhi to lead a protest against the Modi-led Central government.

Mulayam's own Samajwadi Party is also a part of this rally.

In fact, Mulayam's son Akhilesh Yadav's sole motive, by his own admission, for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, is to drive the BJP away from the Centre. He has forged an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the politically crucial Uttar Pradesh.
