Gurugram: Businessman Accused For Raping Daughter’s Friend

The Gurugram Police on Saturday arrested a 43-year-old man in connection to the rape of his daughter’s friend in early hours of Friday.  

The incident occurred when the victim, who is a resident of Gurgaon (Gurugram), had gone to visit her friend who is the daughter of the accused and had come to India for holidays. The daughter of the accused studies abroad and had invited the victim for a sleepover at her residence.

The accused businessman Manglesh reportedly took the girls for a dinner at CyberHub and later ordered drinks later on Thursday night. 

According to the police the accused around 4 AM, allegedly entered the room where the girls were sleeping. He then called the victim out and pulled her to his room where he later committed the offense. He further threatened her not to speak about the incident with anyone.

Gurugram Police PRO Subhash Bokan told the media, “The case has been registered on charges of rape and criminal intimidation at Women's Police Station after the medical examination of the victim.”

The victim in her complaint said, “My mother gave me permission to go out for dinner because my friend’s father was coming with us. She thought it would be safe.”

Describing the heinous act in the report, the victim said, “He locked the room, gagged me with his hand and forced himself on me. I panicked and didn’t know what to do, he then threatened to kill me if I told this to anyone.”

SHO Poonam Hooda, while speaking to News World India, said, “His wife had earlier lodged a complaint against him on charges of cruelty and harassment under section 498A of the Indian Penal Code.”

The accused was arrested on Friday and a court sent him to imprisonment on Saturday.
