Gun Fight Between CRPF & Maoist Breaks Out In Sukma, One Jawan Injured

One CRPF Jawan was injured in an encounter between the Maoists and the CRPF 201 CoBRA battalion at Sukma in the Gundrajguda district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

News agency ANI reported that a jawan was injured. Efforts are being made to take the injured soldier to a hospital. However, there is no official confirmation on the same, yet. The operation is underway.

At least 10 Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, the police said on February 7.

The encounter took place around 11 am in a forest in the Bhairamgarh police station area when a joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohit Garg told PTI. "So far, the bodies of 10 Maoists along with 11 weapons have been recovered from the spot," he said.

The identity of the Maoists are yet to be ascertained and the search operation is still underway.

Earlier, on February 13th, two terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam on Wednesday morning in the third encounter in three days in which eight ultras have been targeted.

Police said a cordon and search operation was launched late on Tuesday night by the state police and the Indian Army in the area based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Gopalpora area of Chadoora in Budgam.
