The counting for Gujarat Elections 2017 has started and both Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress have held their breath anticipating the final results. During the campaigning, the battleground of the state became a great platform for the contenders to bring in their A-games.

None of the competitors left a stone unturned to downplay the rival by spewing venom against each other. The explosive counter-attacks of BJP and Congress made the elections results worth-waiting for. Ever since the elections counting began at 8 am sharp on December 18, the entire nation has held its breath.

As per the latest projections, the ruling party of the state could be seen taking a lead in over 103 seats whereas Congress is following the rival party closely behind by establishing its lead in 76 seats. As the exit polls predicted, BJP seems to be forming a government in Gujarat for the sixth consecutive term, so far.

Gujarat elections became the battle of prestige for both the parties with BJP resorting to the politics of religion to take its legacy forward whereas Congress resorted to aggressive campaigning by pointing out the shortcomings of the existing government to dethrone the ruling party after 22 years.

The neck t neck battle has now tilted towards BJP given the current results with CM Vijay Rupani taking a lead over Congress leader Indranil Rajyaguru in Rajkot West while Deputy CM Nitin Patel is all set to take over Jignesh Mewani in Mehsana.
