A 19-year-old undergraduate student died on Thursday during a mock drill conducted National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in a Coimbatore College.

A video of the incident went viral on social media. In the video, the girl can be seen standing on the ledge of the second floor of the college building and being assisted by NDMA trainer TR Arumugham. She appears to be reluctant.

The people who witnessed the incident alleged that the girl was not willing to jump but the trainer pushed her and she fell while hitting her head on the ledge of the first floor of the building.

Though students were holding a safety net below for safe landing, the video clearly shows the girl was not prepared for the training

The girl is identified as N. Logeswari, she was a second-year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at the Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore.

The police told the media that the girl, when taken to a nearby hospital, was declared dead on arrival. The police added that 20 students were given training. The authorities are quizzing the college principal and the trainer.
