In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said, "PM Modi wanted to be a 'Chowkidar' of the country but we all know that 'Chowkidar' himself is a thief."

In his speech at Sagwara in Rajasthan’s Dungarpur district, Gandhi raised a number of issues and attacked PM Modi led government over rising petrol and diesel prices, Rafale aircraft deal, farmers loan waiver issue and GST.

Gandhi said, “Petrol and Diesel in the vehicles of Gaurav Yatra of BJP have been bought with the money stolen from common people. HAL had 70 plus years experience. PM Modi himself went to France accompanied by Anil Ambani, stole the contract from HAL and gave it to Reliance. When asked in the Parliament PM Modi couldn't look me in the eye."

"The farmers are begging PM Modi to waive off their loans. When he can waive off loans worth Rs 1, 50, 000 crores of just 15 industrialists, why couldn't he waive the loans of farmers? When asked, he was completely silent," he added.

Addressing a mass gathering Gandhi also raised the issue of Fugitive Vijay Mallya who had recently said I met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley before Fleeing the country.

“Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has admitted that Vijay Mallya met him the day before he fled to London," Gandhi said.

Commenting on the Goods and service tax Gandhi said, “When Congress will come to power, we will change this Gabbar Singh Tax to GST.

Raising the issue of Railways in Rajasthan and other issues in the state Gandhi said, “Congress party had announced railway lines worth Rs 2,000 crores to connect the districts of Rajasthan. But BJP govt cancelled this project. We will implement this when we come to power. Congress govt will open the doors of banks to our youth and MSMEs of Rajasthan who in turn will employment."

Concluding the speech Gandhi said, "No one can save Rajasthan govt from falling. Neither PM Modi nor his money."

"All policies started by Modi government only benefit a handful of people. 'Acche Din' has only arrived for India's richest," he added.
