Former Union Minister CK Jaffer Sharief Takes His Last Breath In Bengaluru At The Age Of 85

Former Union railway minister and one of the senior most Congress leaders from Karnataka died on Sunday morning in a private hospital of Bengaluru.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru a few days ago after he falls down while getting into his car for Friday namaz.

The news came on the day after a veteran actor and politician, Ambreesh passed away on Saturday night.

Born on 3 November 1933 in Challakere in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, Sharief was one of the senior most leaders of the Congress and has been a seven-time member of parliament.

Sharief was first elected in the 5th Lok Sabha in 1971. Jaffer Sharief served under the PV Narasimha Rao government as the Union Railway Minister, from 1991 to 1995.

Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter account and wrote, "Saddened by the demise of Shri C. K. Jaffer Sharief Ji. As a veteran Parliamentarian, he enriched parliamentary proceedings. He was an effective voice for Karnataka's aspirations in Delhi Condolences to his family and supporters"

Former President Pranab Mukherjee also tweeted "Extremely shocked and pained at the passing away of Shri CK Jaffer Sharief. I was to release his Urdu Translation of Maulana Azad's "India Wins Freedom" on November 28, 2018, at Bangalore. The Almighty had something else in the store. May his soul Rest in Peace."

President Ram Nath Kovind also expressed his grief through his twitter wrote, "Sorry to hear of the passing of veteran political figure Shri C.K. Jaffer Sharief, who served the nation in many capacities including as Railway Minister. My condolences to his family members and associates in Karnataka and elsewhere"

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also offered his condolences to the family condolences tweeted "It is a day of tragedy for the Congress party, with another senior, loved & respected member of our family in Karnataka, Shri Jaffer Sharief Ji, passing away today.

CM of Karnataka H. D. Kumaraswamy also took to his Twitter account to offer condolence.
