In a scathing attack on Modi government, Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday said Modi government had failed on all fronts including economic development issues, employment, neighborhood relation and freedom of expression in the country.

Singh said, "Our youth are desperately waiting for the promised 2 crore jobs. Employment growth rate has been declining in the last 4 years. People are not impressed with the figures being put out by Modi govt to justify the creation of a large number of jobs."

"Programme like Make in India and Start-Up India yet to make a meaningful impact on the industrial production growth. Small and marginal enterprises yet to derive significant benefit from the ease of doing business schemes. Demonetisation and Goods and Service Tax (GST) hasty implementation has hurt enterprises," he added.

Speaking on bringing back the black money promise being made by the Modi government during 2014 Lok Sabha polls Singh said, "Nothing concrete has been done to bring back the promised billions of dollars allegedly held abroad as black money. There has to be a meaningful national debate on these issues."

Singh was speaking at the launch of Congress leader Kapil Sibal's book Shades of truth- a journey derailed where Sibal said, "The great leader after 2014 gave us demonetisation where we lost 1.5 percent GDP. In any other country, he would have had to resign manner in which GST was implemented, he was a man with a majority in Parliament and what he has done for 4 yrs, in terms of economic growth, liberalization?
