A fire broke out at a shoe factory in Delhi’s Narela Industrial area on Tuesday morning. Fire fighting operation is underway at the factory and no casualties have been reported.

As many as 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to control the fire. The expected reason for the fire is a short circuit.

Just last week, at least 17 people lost their lives in a major fire that broke out in Hotel Arpit Palace in Delhi’s Karol Bagh in the wee hours. Delhi Fire Service and police officials rescued around 50 people from the hotel building.

After such an incident reports suggest that Delhi’s three popular markets  Connaught Place, Khan Market, and Hauz Khas are on the radar of fire safety officials.

The Delhi Fire Service had asked 28 hotels in the capital to shut down after the Karol Bagh fire incident. The fire department inspected 45 hotels in Karol Bagh area and had suspended licenses of 30 hotels for violating fire safety rules.

Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain said that the fire department will intensify its drive against errant hotels across the city to prevent recurrence of Karol Bagh-like incident in the future.
