Following The ‘Framed’ Journalist’s Arrest, FIR Filed Against Chhattisgarh Congress Chief

The freelance journalist Vinod Verma who was arrested in an extortion case on Friday claimed of being “framed” by Chhattisgarh government. He asserted of possessing a sex CD of the state’s minister, Rajesh Munat which the latter called “fake”.

Now, a day after getting the journalist arrested for blackmailing him, Munat has filed a case against the Chhattisgarh’s Congress Chief, Bhupesh Baghel, who claims of possessing a copy of the supposed sex tape.

In reference to the said tape, Munat has requested a thorough investigation by the agency before jumping to any conclusions. BJP also accused the opposition of playing dirty for degrading the party in power.

Verma was arrested from his residence in Ghaziabad at 4 am for blackmailing the minister and possessing the referred CD. Apparently, the independent journalist was investigating the reported intimidation of journalists in Chhattisgarh for a year.

The senior journalist, Vinod was a fact-finding team of the Editors Guild of India. Addressing his arrest, the Congress leader said has stated, “This is an attack on democracy and we condemn this. They are targeting a journalist to protect their minister.”

Verma has been taken to Raipur for further police investigation and will stay in three days custody as per the government orders. “I have a sex CD of a Chhattisgarh Minister, he is Rajesh Munat and that is why the Chhattisgarh government is not happy with me,” he told the reporters.

Upon further investigation, the Police have seized hundreds of CDs, a laptop and a pen drive from the journalist’s house which they claims carry objectionable content and Verma "intended" to distribute them to the masses.
