The Election Commission rejected the Congress's complaint regarding the discrepancies in the electoral of Madhya Pradesh. The party had filed a complaint to the poll body regarding irregularities in the electoral roll for the state.

Election Commission in a letter addressed to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) sent on Friday mentioned that the investigation teams formed on the basis of complaint inspected voter lists in four assembly constituencies in the state and they have not got any such thing as disturbances.

The letter further reads "From the evidence collected from the ground and the analysis of the data made available with the complaint suggest that the claim of large scale duplicate, repeat, multiple, illegal, invalid, false etc. entries/voters in the electoral roll of Madhya Pradesh is not based on robust parameters and is not correct."

However, the team found image repetition in the lists but it is in no way related to the issue of multiple entries. EC has assured that the issue of image repetition is being rectified.

Soon after the Congress delegation approached the body regarding the issue on Sunday, the Commission formed two teams to probe the allegations. The teams visited Narela, Bhojpur, Seoni-Malwa and Hoshangabad assembly seats to investigate the charges laid by the party.

Madhya Pradesh Congress President Kamal Nath in a media briefing on Sunday said, ”We have provided evidence to the Election Commission that there are approximately 60 lakh fake voters registered in the voting list. These are not merely mistakes. The lists have been deliberately altered at the behest of the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) government in the state.”

The assembly elections in the state would be held in the month of November this year.
