Delhi Police Nabs 24-Year-Old Criminal Wanted In 7 Cases After Encounter In Sarai Kale Khan

An encounter broke out in the national capital during the early hours of Thursday. This encounter occurred between the police and a member of the Naveen Bhanja and Neeraj Bawania gang.   

The accused identified as Saddam Hussein, 24, is a notorious criminal and has been wanted in a firing case in the Kotla Mubarakpur area of Delhi. Apart from this 7 other cases are also registered against him.

The encounter took place near the Millennium depot in southeast Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan area at around 5:15 am. Police had received information that Hussain would come near the Millennium depot on a motorcycle. Subsequently, a trap was laid to arrest him.

While speaking to News World India, a senior police official said, “We received a tip from our sources that Saddam would be passing through on his bike, our officers ran to nab him, he has received a bullet on his leg. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.  One police official also sustained a bullet during the encounter.”

Hussein has been earlier charged with more than a dozen criminal cases on him and has also been sentenced to five years in jail. He is one of the leading members of Neeraj Bhanja gang.

An investigation is on and further details are awaited in this matter.
