Delhi Police Books Army Major After Domestic Help Alleges Rape

A major rank officer of the Indian Army was booked by the Delhi Police on Saturday on the charges of rape of his domestic help in the Delhi Cantt area of the national capital.

According to media reports, the woman alleged that she was raped on July 12, when her husband was away. She alleged that when her husband returned home and saw what was happening, the accused attacked the couple and threatened them. She also alleged that the accused raped her on many occasions, following which she went to her in-laws’ home, but her husband stayed back.

Later that month, she got a call from the army Major saying her husband had hanged himself, following which she approached the police, the report mentioned.

A case is registered under section 376 (rape), 354 (molestation), 323 (causing hurt) and 506 (threatening) of the Indian Penal Code against the Major.

According to media reports, the woman had to approach the court as the police wasn’t initiating the probe and was fearing for her life and also of her son.

Deputy Commissioner of Police South West Devendra Arya said, “A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the matter is under the course of investigation.
