Delhi Police Arrests Two Suspected Terrorists From Red Fort Area

The Special Staff of Delhi Police on Friday arrested two suspected terrorist having links with the Islamic State in Jammu & Kashmir (ISJK) organization near the Red Fort in the national capital.

The two accused are identified as Parvez (24) and Jamshed (19) residents of the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. The duo was arrested from the Jama Masjid bus stop near the Red Fort area.

DCP Special Cell Pramod Singh Kushwah said, “On September 6, 2018, an information was received through one of the reliable sources that two militant of IS-JK namely Parvaiz Rashid Lone and Jamsheed Zahoor have already procured arms and ammunition from UP. It was informed that this consignment will be used for executing terrorist acts in J&K. The information further disclosed that they would come at Netaji Subhash Park, Near Lal Quila for travel to Kashmir at about 11 PM. On the basis of above information, a trap was laid outside Netaji Subhash Park gate Near Lal Quilla, Delhi and in a swift & clinical operation, both the militants were apprehended.”

He further added, “We have recovered two Pistols of 7.65 mm caliber with 10 live cartridges and four Mobile Phones.”

The operation was carried out by a team of Special Cell, New Delhi Range (NDR) led by Inspector Kailash Singh Bisht and Inspector Sunil Rajain under the supervision of Shri Govind Sharma, ACP/Special Cell, Shri Lalit Mohan and Shri Hridaya Bhushan Lodhi Colony, New Delhi
