Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia inaugurated the Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 corridor of Delhi metro’s pink line on Monday.

The passenger services on the 9.7-km-long corridor will begin from 4 pm today. It will connect Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar.

The newly inaugurated stretch is part of the 59-km-long pink line which spans from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar.

After this, only a 1.4-km stretch between Mayur Vihar Pocket-1 and Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake stations remain to be linked.

With the opening of the new section, the Pink Line now connects localities as disparately situated as Shalimar Bagh, Anand Vihar, and Sarojini Nagar, in the north, east and south of Delhi, respectively.

The corridor which will also be the longest line in the Delhi Metro network was being opened in phases for the public, since February this year.
