Delhi: Drunk 25-Year-Old Kills 2 On Foothpath Near Rajouri Garden

A deunk 25 year old allegedly ran over a footpath in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden, killing two men and injuring two others in the early hours on Sunday.

The accused driver is identified as Devesh who works in a software firm and was arrested on the spot.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 4:30 AM in the morning, while Devesh was driving from Paschim Vihar to the airport to meet a friend.

Reports further said that the victims were sleeping on the footpath outside the ESI hospital on ring road, which falls under the Rajouri Garden police station in West Delhi, when a high-speed Honda Civic sedan climbed on the footpath. They were crushed under its wheels.

The deceased were identified as Noora, 50, and Krishna Kumar Dubey. Ram Singh, 55, and Manoj, 35, were critically injured.

Deputy Comissioner of Police West, Monica Bhardwaj said, “The accident was reported by the people who rescued the victims. A police team of Rajouri Garden reached the spot and found a Honda Civic car in an accidental condition on the footpath. The accused was handed over to the police. He underwent a medical examination, which showed a high amount of alcohol in his blood.”

A case has been registered under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code, which attracts a maximum jail term of 10 years.
