Delhi: Bank Robbery Caught On CCTV Camera, Cashier Shot Dead

In a bank robbery at the Corporation Bank in Khaira village near Chhawla in Delhi on Friday, a cashier was shot dead when he stood up to the six assailants armed with weapons.

Police said that the six assailants had also opened fire outside the bank before fleeing on motorcycles and have injured five people.

A police official was quoted by the Indian Express as saying, “The victim, Santosh Kumar (45), used to work with the Indian Air Force. After he retired, he took up a job at the bank. We believe six men are involved in the case and several teams have been deputed to ascertain their whereabouts.”

The six assailants made off with Rs 2 lakh in cash and a rifle owned by the bank’s security guard, however, Bank staff told police that the stolen amount was more than Rs 2 lakh.

When a police team reached the spot they found the cashier bleeding. They took the cashier to the nearest local hospital, where he was declared dead.

The incident took place at 3:30 pm. The bank manager, six employees and eight customers were present in the bank when the robbery took place.

A case of murder and dacoity has been registered against unknown persons at Chhawla police station. The investigation is on.
