DCW and Delhi Police on Wednesday rescued 39 Nepalese girls from the Paharganj area of the national capital. It is alleged that the girls were being trafficked to Gulf countries. Earlier this day the organization rescued 19 girls from the Malviya Nagar area.

It was the 3rd operation of the Delhi Commission of Women in one week. The organization has rescued around 80 girls in a week. The rescue operations were carried out in Munirka, Maidan Garhi and Paharganj.

As per DCW Chief Swati Maliwal, the girls were trafficked on the pretext of being offered jobs. Maliwal told the media, "They were kept in the hotel on the pretext of job offers while they were being trafficked to the Gulf countries. Some girls have already been sent to Sri Lanka and we're not able to contact them."

Delhi Commission of Women Chief Swati Maliwal also requested Home Minister Rajnath Singh to take cognizance of this and chair a meeting in the presence of Delhi Lieutenant Governor and the Commissioner of Police.

She further questioned the actions of the Delhi Police saying that why is it that the Delhi Police is not getting information of such matters even when the DCW or police of other states are easily getting the information of the same.

While speaking to News World India, Maliwal said, "We had received the tip from a Nepal based NGO and we raided the place late night. Around 6 hours long operation. The medical has been done and now the Nepal Embassy will intervene in the rehabilitation and establishment process of these girls.
