Even as the monsoon season comes to an end in most parts of the country, the cyclonic storm 'Daye' crossed the coast of Odisha near Gopalpur on Friday, triggering heavy downpour along with high velocity wins in several parts of the state. The heavy rains are expected to continue till Saturday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had on Thursday conducted a review meeting over the upcoming storm, asking officials to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate steps to ensure no loss of life.

Official sources say that coastal districts and various departments have been put on alert while NDRF and ODRAF teams have been deployed with 17 boats and other emergency equipment.
