Hailing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's befitting response to Pakistan in her United Nations General Assembly speech on Saturday, Congress party has come forward to take credit for BJP recognising their vision for India.

After the External Minister's UN address, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday morning tweeted, "Sushma Ji, thank you for finally recognising Congress governments' great vision and legacy of setting up IITs and IIMs."

Gandhi's tweet comes in response to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) criticism of Congress rule in India. The BJP has on numerous occasions rubbished the Congress government's leadership and accused the party of corruption.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj addressed the UNGA, in which she accused the neighbouring country of harbouring terrorism while India was focusing on development.

She said, "We set up IITs, IIMs, AIIMS and ISRO. What did Pakistan make? They set up Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Haqqani Network, Hizbul Mujahideen."

Congress National spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, on Saturday, had also targeted BJP for questioning the development of the country tweeting, "Thank Sushma Swaraj ji for stating hard facts about India & Pakistan at UN. Befitting reply to those who ask what happened in last 70 years."

In the series of tweets, the party communication in-charge had said, "Sushma Swaraj mirrored the yeoman's progress made by India under Congress rule, making 'inclusive growth & progress' as India's mantra."

"Time to move words into action as Pakistan still receives $743million annual US aid, collaborates with China on CPEC & buys arms from Russia," he added.
