Senior leader and former minister HK Patil appointed as Chairman of the Campaign Committee of Karnataka Pradesh Congress on Saturday.
HK Patil replaced Water Resources Minister DK Shivakumar.

Patil will now have the responsibility of organising and coordinating the campaign along with coalition partner JD(S) as General elections are due early next year.

The development came to light after All India Congres Committee said in a statement that "party president Rahul Gandhi has approved the name of HK Patil as Chairman of the Campaign Committee for Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee in place of DK Shivakumar with immediate effect".
A few months back Karnataka's Congress President resigned claiming moral responsibility for the “unsatisfactory performance” of the Congress party in North Karnataka during the assembly elections, Karnataka North Congress Working President S R Patil tendered his resignation from the post of 'Working President'.
“I have sent my resignation to Shri Rahul Gandhiji through an email some days back after taking up moral responsibility for the party’s unsatisfactory performance in assembly elections,” Patil said to media.
