CBI vs CBI: PM Modi Sends CBI Director Alok Verma On Leave To Hinder Rafale Probe, Alleges Rahul Gandhi

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent CBI director Alok Verma on leave as he was collecting the papers bout Rafale deal.

Gandhi said that PM Modi has forcefully sent Verma on leave.

"It is a clear message from PM Modi that if someone tries to probe Rafale deal he will be removed from his post,"  Gandhi said in a Hindi tweet. 

Early in the day, Campaigning for the upcoming state elections in Rajasthan on Wednesday at a rally Gandhi said that PM Modi government has sent India’s premier investigation agency CBI into ICU.

At the rally, Gandhi also said, "Lalit Modi paid crores of rupees to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's son. Vijay Mallya met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley before fleeing away to London with Rs 9, 000 crore public money."


The internal war at India’s premier investigation agency CBI took a turn when it arrested its own official on Monday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervening into the matter summoned CBI Director Alok Verma and the second in command and Special Director Rakesh Asthana to his office (PMO).

In an unprecedented turn amidst the internal war in country’s internal investigation agency, the central government sent the top 2 of the agency on temporary leave on Tuesday and appointed M Nageshwar Rao as the interim director of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday.
