Blast At Stone Quarry In Andhra Pradesh, 10 Killed, Several Injured

In a big explosion at the stone quarry in Andhra Pradesh 10 people killed and several injured on Friday. This heart-rending incident took place in Kurnool district’s Hathi Belgal.

The injured were admitted to near Alur Government Hospital and Adoni and Kurnool Government hospitals. Suffering from 70 percent burn injuries were rescued by the NDRF and fire department officials.

The victims are said to be hailing from Odisha and blast occurred when they all were doing the regular quarrying.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed his grief and ordered an inquiry about the blasts reasons.

Naidu ordered Deputy Chief Minister K. E. Krishnamurthy and mining minister to go to the incident spot and monitor the operations. Naidu also announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to deceased family members.

As per reports in media, the police suspect that gelatine sticks placed at the site might be gone off when the 20 workers were present at the incident spot.

The police found a diesel tank burning near to the incident spot. The investigation is going on to confirm that it was truck which triggered the blast or any other reason.

Locals said the explosion was really big, they heard a huge sound of the blast, following which they rushed to the incident spot.

The walls of the houses got cracked situated near the incident spot, said the locals.
